Seems lately there has been some confusion as to the length of a trial period and what you have to do to move from trial to member status. In order to avoid having to explain this over and over I will try to clarify here.
The purpose of the trial period is for us to get to know each other and for you to decide if you like being with us and for us to decide if you are what we are looking for in terms of personality, skill and use to the guild.
This sounds cold and elitist but the purpose of the guild is to provide it’s members with a nice place to play with people they know and like and to progress through game content. Therefore if for whatever reason it is decided you don’t fit team dynamic or are not skilled enough or are not particularly available to help the guild then you will not be promoted from trial to member and will in all likelihood be asked to leave the guild.
Whilst we pride ourselves on being helpful and will assist people in terms of gearing up, attunements and advice we are in no way a training guild. It is a requirement of joining that you know your class sufficiently well to operate at our current raid level and should have worked on your gear accordingly.
As members of the guild we do discuss people on trial and to form an opinion we have to actually play with a person, membership will not be awarded on the basis of 1 or 2 runs. Quickest way to get off trial is to play with the guild and impress them if no one knows you no one will vouch for you and therefore you will not pass trial. As we are more casual than some guilds in our approach we do take into account that real life happens and so if you are inactive during your trial or are not able to raid/instance run due to other commitments then we extend the trial period. However, if you are online regularly and just don’t work with the guild and only seem interested in the big raid for the big loot then you will not make it to member status.
It is desirable though not to extend trial periods too far as when you do raid you cannot roll against a member who needs that loot. Also we may turn down an excellent recruit due to lack of space therefore after one month if people haven’t been promoted from member for whatever reason they will be asked to leave the guild.
Checklist for being promoted from trial status
• Be online and active
• Be available and work with guild members (raise your profile lets get to know each other)
• Be nice and fun to play with
• Know your class
• Have adequate gear or at least a plan to obtain it
• Keep us informed of anything that might come up that could affect your trial (absence etc)
• Be aware membership is not granted due to time served or as of right but by proving yourself
• Be aware that the guild is a collection of individuals working for a common goal and that sometimes it may be necessary to sublimate your own desires/wishes for the good of the guild and that this continues into membership (lending assistance when all you really want to do is hang out talking etc)
• Be sure we are the right guild for you
